Water feature about done

The water feature is a small brook that has about a 10 to 11 foot vertical drop. It was under development for much of the summer. Here are some shots of when it was being finished:

And here is one of the inspirations for the entire stream:

Debra and Scott have done a wonderful job!!! And finally, one of the pools is a "Lake Superior" pool, with rocks from the North Shore:

Summer Kitchen coming along!

Over the past three weeks there has been a bit of progress. Roof is shingled, gables have been sided, windows installed, the pavillion siding on, and much of the trim on:

One fun thing we've started doing is letting the chickens have the run of the yard. Bremmy does a good job making sure they stay around!

Outbuilding #2: the Summer Kitchen

Now that the chicken coop is completed, building #2 can be started -- an old-fashioned summer kitchen: a rustic building, hopefully with a wood cook-stove, bare walls, a dry sink, and a lot of shelf space. Canning, maple sugaring, bread....who knows? So here's the first few weeks...post holes started on 7/24, platform completed a week later, walls up by the 10th, rafters on the 22nd.

Ozhige baaka'aakwenhwigamig: Moving Day!!!

The coop is done with one small touch -- the electrical needs to be hooked up but that needs to wait for a few months for the summer kitchen to be built. But Thursday was moving day. But wait, Debra had a "Camp-out in the Coop (before there is poop)! overnight party on Wednesday:

Then the final outfitting of the coop so the chickens have some nests. These boxes were from my Great-Aunt Charlotte's farm out in Dakota:

Picking up the girls and bringing them from next door:

And moved in!!!!
