On a 95 degree day the septic guys came, moved piles of dirt, and installed the septic system....conventional system, nice flat area.
The drain field is made up of polystyrene peanuts in mesh bags---they don't decompose, I guess:
They my "junior inspector" came to check things out. Caleb especially loved the backhoe:

Week Two Midweek Report
The garage was formed and poured on Monday, forms came off on Tuesday, outside sprayed on Wednesday:
One of the pleasures has been almost daily visitors to the site:
Now on Wednesday the basement plumbing work started. Bruce did some backfilling so the basement is approachable and Slick and his crew put down the drain lines and put in the well water line:
Next on the docket.....septic tank and field installation.

Concrete work: Days 2 & 3
The concrete guys came on Tuesday morning:
Visits from the "neighbors":
Then on Wednesday the forms started going up. Bingo--basement walls!
Bremmy sure likes the workers....especially when they don't eat all of their bread crusts!

Siting the house (finally!!)
Spent the mid-morning hours staking out the house site with our building, Bruce. Man, are there a lot of corners in this house!
Two more shots of the process......including one looking at the tree removal area.
Last one is a view from the road:
The building permit application is in, the construction loan is in process. What an adventure!

Brush Burning
Forecast was for rain overnight, so we took the opportunity to burn the two monster brush piles with Gen & the kids.
The grand-girls earned money for their VBS mission effort by gathering and adding to the fires:
The dogs watched through the whole process. After the fires burned out, we used the coals for grilled cheese sandwiches and s'mores. Of course, the dogs were extra vigilant for any food left by a seat when someone moved around......
